The construction of components has been made much easier thanks to the invention of CAD programmes. The actual production process was still manual. The design was given to the technician who configured his machine accordingly. This has changed with the second revolution: Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) makes it possible to transfer component constructions directly onto a machine in order to manufacture the component in an entirely automated way. You can discover more about this in the second part of our range on “Computer Aided Design”.
The first design drawings date back to the 16th century. At that time, however, creating a drawing was much more expensive. Designers used hand-made tools for their concepts and drawings. Later, the drawing table was introduced to create technical drawings. Drawings as we know them became possible only with the invention of computers and various software programs.
